Your journey

Application and Interview Process

At Harding+ we recruit all year round, and we’re always on the search for the talent of tomorrow. It’s a straightforward and easy process to apply to join us –  the first port of call is to submit your online application form which can be found on our website. We’ll then let you know next steps within 7 days.

If successful, we’ll invite you to a telephone interview, and if you pass this stage, we’ll invite you to attend one of our group assessment centres held around the UK. We hold various assessment centres dependent on the role you are applying for.

The group assessment centres run over 2 days and consist of a company presentation so you can find out more about us, group activities, a one-to-one interview and comprehensive pre-boarding training. There are also plenty of opportunities to ask any questions you may have, and to meet fellow future employees.

If you’re applying from overseas then we may refer you to one of local agents who support us with our recruitment around the world. We regularly hold group assessment centres outside the UK – please make contact with our recruitment partners closest to you.

What Happens Next?

You’ll be notified within 3 working days if you’ve been successful and are now part of the Harding+ Team.  Once we have welcomed you into Harding+, our Retail Staffing Team will then assist you in obtaining all of the required documents – these include a C1/D visa, a seafaring medical, and a seaman’s book – and provide you with any additional support you need along the way.

Once you have all the documents required you’ll be ready to receive your first assignment, so you can lift anchor and then adventure awaits!  Please be aware that this can take up to 6 months and will be dependent on your situation.

Please note if you fail to obtain a C1/D Visa or pass your Seafarers Medical, unfortunately you will not be unable to embark on a ship with Harding+.

Pre-Boarding Induction

Prior to embarking on your first assignment all Onboard Crew are required to complete an online induction. This will be sent to you directly from our Training team and must be completed prior to boarding, together with any individual training required prior to boarding.

Training & Development

At Harding+ we’re passionate about our Onboard Crew and have extensive pre-boarding and onboard training programmes to help everyone reach their shipshape career goals. Our approach to training and development follows a common structure, but is flexible to adapt to individuals roles and needs.

When you join your ship, you’ll receive the Welcome On-board Workbook which will guide you through your first month onboard. It will set expectations, give training and help you settle into ship life. The tools and techniques provided will help you assimilate into your role and become a fully productive team member within 4 weeks of joining.

Developing our onboard management team is a key part of moving our business forward.  Our Assistant Manager Training Programme is tailormade for onboard crew with leadership potential.  We’ve designed this exciting training programme to build the skills you’ll need to lead and motivate a team of shop colleagues at Harding+.  The Assistant Manager Training Programme consists of preparation assignments, 9 learning modules, practical ‘on the job’ related tasks, and various leadership development activities.  The programme will take approximately 10-12 weeks to complete and you’ll hold on to each module and use them as your learning guide.

Should you be interested in developing into a specialist position, and show the required capabilities, we also offer onboard training for Fine Jewellery and Premium Watches.
