It’s a straightforward and easy process to apply to join us –  the first port of call is to submit your online application form which can be found on our website. We’ll then let you know next steps within 5 days.

If you are successful, you will be employed by Harding Brothers (Guernsey) Limited, and our onboarding and scheduling team will help you get ready to go.

What Happens Next?

You’ll be notified within 3 working days if you’ve been successful following your final interview. Once we have welcomed you to the Harding+ team, our Onboarding team will assist you in obtaining all of the required documents – these include a C1/D visa, a seafaring medical, and a seaman’s book – and provide you with any additional support you need along the way.

Once you have all the documents required, you’ll be ready to receive your first assignment from our Scheduling team. Please be aware that this can take up to 6 months and will be dependent on your situation.

Please note if you fail to obtain a C1/D Visa or pass your Seafarers Medical, unfortunately you will not be unable to embark on a ship with Harding+.

Shipboard Training & Development Academy

At Harding+, our Shipboard Training Academy offers a variety of learning and development opportunities to support your career. These programs include induction training, which covers both general and role-specific induction modules, as well as sales and service skills, brand/product knowledge, and dedicated training for managers and assistant managers. If you’re interested in progressing into a management position or a specialist role, such as fine jewellery or premium watches, and you demonstrate the required performance and capabilities, the academy also offers development pathways to help you achieve these goals.

Introduction

Before you board for your first assignment, you’ll be enrolled into your Induction training which includes the Welcome to Harding+ program along with any other modules relevant to you and your specific role onboard. The induction blends online eLearning with onboard coaching and practical application.

Over your first four weeks onboard, induction training will set clear expectations for your role, provide essential skills, and help you adjust to ship life. It’s designed not only to help you become a productive team member but also to build your confidence, establish strong working relationships, and fully integrate into the Harding+ culture.

At the end of this period, you’ll review and sign off your induction training with your manager as part of your probationary review.
